I read Tony Parsons' first book, Man and Boy many years ago. But recently, I took it up to read again. It was still as interesting as the first time. I suddenly went bersek and decided to read all the books written by him.
The books written by him that I have read:
Man and Boy
Man and Wife
One for my baby (currently reading)
The Family Way.
After reading Man and Boy, I wanted to know more about how Tony's life turned out and started reading Man and Wife. I was intrigued by his line of thoughts. Normally, I would prefer female writers and female singers. But this time, I found that I really like Tony's books.
Reading real stories is different from reading novels as there is no gurantee of a happy ending. Under normal novel circumstances, Harry Silver would have reconciled with his first wife, however, this was not the case in his life.
I find it so true, sometimes we realise our mistakes but we are not given a second chance to make good. We have to learn to pick ourselves up and carry on with our lives. That was what Harry did and he met another wonderful woman.
I am currently reading One for my baby but this book is just a novel, like his latest book The Family Way.
I thought I could read more about his life after reading Man&Boy and Man&Wife
I started reading this book yesterday. I read Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom some years back when my friend lent his copy to me. I was quite touched by it.
Likewise, reading 5 people you meet in heaven set me thinking again.
I wonder how many deaths I have caused in my life, so far.
Some parts of this book I would like to remember by...
It might seem strange to start a story with an ending. But all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time.
No story sits by itself. Sometimes stories meet at corners and sometimes they cover one another completely, like stones benneath a river.
Strangers are just family you have yet to come to know.
Sometimes when you sacrifice something precious, you are not really losing it. You are just passing it on to someone else.
I am easily influenced by the books I read and the shows I watch. In fact, I finally decided to quit my third job after reading something from a book.
