Although AW's blog gave this movie a high review, I wasn't too gian to watch it til I heard /watched the youtube links...
After watching the show, both A and I felt that we couldn't understand how or why the male and female lead could fall in love just like that....
On the 60 year old story, I used to think that it doesn't matter if the guy doesn't express his love for the girl...however, after the events recently, I think that it would be such a shame if the love is not professed...
What is the use of writing so many letters...which are not sent? Yes, the old lady had the chance of reading the letters at her ripe old age....but what if she had died? In addition, the old man and old lady has both moved on and married someone else...how does this show that their love had carried on for 60 years?!?
I was moved by the never-say-die attitude of the old man in the band...who believed in himself and his skills...and accepted playing a handbell, just so that he could perform on stage...and his questioning of the others, why they were willing to accept not being given a chance to sing on stage...indeed...we have to believe in ourselves and dare to take the step forward...instead of complaining about things when we ourselves do not have the confidence to seize the day

很多人質疑阿嘉跟友子居然就隨隨便便的對上了，兩個死對頭居然可以在一夜之間變成愛人，而友子居然隨便的讓阿嘉「欺負」，其實海角七號初剪版是160分鐘，後來因為整個電影的緊湊度跟長度的關係，剪掉了2個段落，友子跟阿嘉有一段大約10多分鐘的『關鍵對話』被剪掉，主要是敘述阿嘉與友子在台北的不如意跟挫折，也描述了他們怎麼互相了解和和解；另外一段被剪掉的是阿嘉與友子的床戲，原本應該更精彩喔。

Ha...then is fault of the person who shortened the show! Making everyone confused! And not understanding why everybody understands Japanese!

Think around 1895-1950 Taiwan was controled by Japan. So, most people who born during that time understand Japanese.
P.S 阿嘉 doesn't understand Japanese.
