To celebrate ZL's birthday, we went to Marina Square for an early lunch, alas! MOF, our intended place would only open 1 hour later, so we settled at Secret Recipe. Wrong choice! The service was slow although there were only a few tables occupied.
We waited very long even for basic things like chicken pie or cakes...just take out and serve kind of food...
I requested for warm water, and was given half a mug of hot water and a bottle of mineral water (chargeable at $0.50 per bottle). I would definitely not patronise Secret Recipe's again.
Next, we went for coffee and cakes at Coffee Club...service was so much better...and we felt better and more comfortable.....we all commented that we should have gone to Coffee Club in the first place for lunch instead of going to Secret Recipe...
Our family seldom buys durians, since my dad can't eat durians cause of his diabetics...so I normally only get to eat durians in durian puff, durian ice-cream etc...and do not have the habit of enjoying durians during the durian season.
This durian season, it seems that I can smell durians almost everyday when I am waiting for the lift @ the lift lobby...I think there is a family that eats durians almost everyday and throws their bag of durian husks at the dustbin beside the lift lobby.
To add to that, I have heard many people mentioning their durian experiences. So I was quite determined to have my own durian experience too....so I finally had my own experience today!!!
GM decided to buy the Cat Mountain King since I have not tried it before...the taste is really heavenly...and there were many seeds in the different compartments! It seems that there really is a difference between an expensive durian and a cheap one...and how much did we pay for our King? S$40!

Since we were at Cuppage, GM wanted to check whether this restaurant is still in existence. We were lucky that we were there at 6pm, cause others who came in later had to be turned away...guess one must really make reservations if one wants to patronize this restaurant. This is a restaurant which is well-known for its grilled food, which includes yakitori
We had the following on sticks
1. enoki - $3.20
2. asparagus - $3.20
3. tebasaki (chicken wings) - $2.60
4. tsukune (chicken meatball) - $2.20
5. bbgyu (beef) - $8
And the following grilled dishes
6. j shitake (mushroom) - $6
7. katsuo tataki (raw tuna, lightly cooked)- $18
8. ibodai bata (butter fish)- $24
With 10% service charge and 7%GST, the bill came up to almost S$80. This was quite an interesting experience, although the price is on the high end, the food is really worth-trying
After more than 2 years in a familiar environment, I finally decided to take the plunge and threw in the towel. Having to go to a totally new environment and make new friends again is real difficult....
Thinking back on my post of 9 May 2007 where I blogged about my new job then...the toilet over here is so much better! The toilet is big with a full length mirror...3 wash basins and 7 cubicles...
It has been about 5 days in my new job ...and I am still reading manuals....yawnzzz

I thought I remembered this restaurant serves nice pizza, and since I haven't been here for some time, decided to give it a try since we were around that part of Orchard.
Alas, service was slow, food was nothing to shout about, I would say that I would not even venture there again.
We were seated at a corner booth seat on the 2nd level, hence could observe everything happening on that level....all of a sudden, we heard a lady complaining loudly about someone making her angry...and I was wondering why this lady wants to create such a scene in a restaurant.
Soon the lady asked for the bill and disputed with the amount for some time...and she left after awhile.
Next, came a mother, her young daugther of about 4 years and their maid. This mother was complaining loudly to her daugther and maid that she does not know where the father has gone, and she thinks that he is a silly man...etc...
Wonder whether the booth in front of us is jinxed....

The boss decided to throw my farewell bash at Noble House...and I remember quite fondly that the food there was quite delicious...so was anticipating that day to dawn...
We were having the a la carte buffet and having UOB's promotion, for every 4 diners, one diner gets to dine free. So it wasn't quite a bad deal.
The presentation of the food wasn't too nice..but the food tasted really than it looks...and it was fun to be out with my colleagues.
Since it was a la carte buffet, we ordered quite a variety since there were 10 of us...quite remember exactly what we ordered but at least there were some memorable ones...
Thumbs up for the following dishes:
cereal prawns
pigeon soup
bittergourd with salted egg
mango pudding
thai tofu
Thumbs down for the following dishes:
shark fin soup
Decided to go shopping for a new mattress to see if my backache and sleep would improve....
We visited this store near my place at Tradehub, which had advertised in the Saturday's papers.
I nearly spent more than S$1,000 on a mattress, but decided to call it off when the sales assistant wanted to charge for delivery, which she conveniently forgot to mention until I have written my name and address on the order form.
To find out more about the mattress I nearly bought, I googled and realised that the brand that was supposed to be made in Germany, was actually manufactured in Malaysia.
In addition, I chanced upon some comments from the forum:

Please beware of this company and i strongly suggest u think twice before buying anything from them
My fiance and I went to the home decor fair at Expo in July where we put a deposit on charleston plush top and with that we were given a free bed frame in a promo package. The salesman said we can take our time to decide whether we want the charleston or glendale so it was written in our invoice that we can change to other models of simmons mattress at the promo package price. The salesman keeps saying that the deposit is to 'lock in' the price as simmons mattress increases in price all the time.
After trying glendale and charleston, we decided to change to glendale. The salesman tried to delay the process by telling us to visit the kaki bukit branch to choose a new model(Alington) but when we insisted on glendale, thats when the salesman tell us no bed frame is included for glendale and we have to top up $800 for the bed frame.
We are settling this matter with CASE (consumer association) seriously i would rather forfeit my deposit than to patronise this company. This salesperson lied to us and tried all ways to avoid our calls. This is definitely the most dishonest retailer i have ever encountered.
From Wiki, PDA is the physical demonstration of affection for another person while in the view of others...
I wonder how others view PDA, but personally, I feel ill-at ease when watching others and do not like being the centre of PDA attraction.
I never could understand why others are so open on PDA, however, I realised that I have a couple friend who are oblivious to those around them when they are together.
Wonder whether this is romance all the time...or self-consciousless...
Wonder why I have been having funny dreams that bother on becoming nightmares...
On Monday, I woke up remembering about the dream that I had....me carrying 2 sisters...and when I looked at the younger sister, I realised that she has 3 eyes instead of 2!!!!
On Wednesday morning, I woke up with heart beating...I dreamt that my friend fell into a manhole, and while I pulled her up...I turned to look at her and saw that in place of her face, was a skeleton skull!!! I woke up in shock!
Today, was chatting with colleague Y...and he had a wonderful idea. He said that he would recommend a colleague that he doesn't like to headhunters to be headhunted away...he would sing praises of this colleague so that this colleague would be successfully headhunted...and then he can live his life in peace...with all parties happy...
Isn't this a wondeful idea?
Someone sent me this email...perhaps she knows that I can't do mental sums? :P
This Title caught my attention in the library and I decided to borrow this book. Parts of this book are interesting and parts are boring. Something interesting to note:
How to Spot a Social Climber without Suspecting Everyone:
1. They name-drop. Climbers tend to use and say names more than normal people
2. It's in the eyes. Social climbers are hungry, and it always shows in their big, wide eyes
3. They are rude. SCs tend to look over your shoulder while in conversation - on the lookout for more desirable prey.
4. They're bold. SCs always ask to be introduced to the highest-status person in the room
5. They ditch their own friends for bigger and better invites from the bigger and better person, and they won't ask their old friends along.
