It is good that Project Surprise went so smoothly...and the birthday girl was pleasantly surprised...and even shed a few touched tears.....
This was a project that I didn't mind planning because I had like-minded "team-mates" whom was with me all the way during the planning stages....
When the idea to hold a birthday party at MacDonald's was suggested by my team-mate, we started to "survey" around for the general popularity of such a party. Like most ideas, there were supporters and opposition for this suggestion. However, after sourcing around for other avenues, we found that this was still the best idea as we believe that the birthday girl would be quite game.
So we started by surfing the MacDonald's website for more information on organising a birthday party. We found that only certain outlets are "birthday hubs" (i.e. outlets where birthday parties can be held. And amongst these birthday hubs, only a few are near MRTs. Our first recee trip, we went to Macdonald's Toa Payoh entertainment centre...the area was quite small, next we went to AMK Ave 10, it was not very accessible, then we went to United Square...the Macdonald's was no longer a birthday hub but the website was not updated.
As the Macdonald's party would only last at most 2 hours, we decided to find a place for us to adjourn to after the MacDonald's party....so we began searching for some places with nice ambience, through surfing the web...we shortlist some restaurants:
1. Marina South Pier (Pier 11)
2. Marina South Pier (Riverboat- a floating restaurant)
3. Mount Faber (Jewel Box)
4. Labrador Park (Olive something...)
See my post on May 27, 2007...on these restaurants...
