I don't know when I started being so particular about orange juice....
On Thursday, we went to one of the eateries near the office and I ordered a cup of orange juice without ice...however, it was a disappointment when the vendor added lots of water to top up the "juice" to the brim....I think it is totally unforgiveable for the vendor to dilute the juice with water after charging me a premium for pure orange juice (without ice) hence I felt that it was my right to request for a cup without dilution....however, the 2nd cup that the vendor served me was only abit better but still not pure orange juice....it was probably a waste but I just couldn't make myself drink it.
Anyway, just realised that this weekend, I've had MacDonald's orange juice everyday...on Friday....I got one at West Coast Park, on Sat, I got one at AMK, on Sunday, I also had one at West Coast Park.....
These few weeks, KX and I have been going around Singapore in search of a nice restaurant....so on Friday, after having dinner at Siglap, we began our search, first we went to Marina South Pier, we found 2 restaurants, Riverboat and Pier 11.
Riverboat is a restaurant on a boat, according to them, they serve T-Rex food...I don't really know the genre but to me, they serve American / Cowboy style food. However, do prepare motion-sickness pills....we started feeling giddy after awhile..this is quite a big restaurant/boat. On the first level is the main dining hall (air-con but bad ventilation...u will smell of food after eating there), then there is a 2nd deck...suitable for functions with 100+people.
The 3rd deck is open air and quite nice...I would think that the scenery would be quite good...except that there is nothing much to see at night as it is too dark...
Pier 11...situated in the main building...the attraction of this place is that u can request for the outdoor tables with the sea view....
For those in search of a quiet (and dark) place, go no further then the 3rd level....there is a piece of grass verge on the 3rd level (open air) facing the sea...so u can enjoy the sea breeze (if any) while glazing out into the sea....
The 2nd place we went is Labrador Park....I thot the restaurant would be by the sea...alas...the restaurant Olive something was on the hill....no seaview whatsoever...juz mozzies....the selling point is dinner at the secret tunnels....but it is sectioned off and seems like a normal room to me....
Next, we tried going to Jewel Box on Mount Faber...we drove up Mount Faber near Harborfront but after going up and around twice, and not finding Jewel Box, we almost gave up....however, we recalled that there is another way up to Mount Faber and went in search of it, after circling around, we found the other road up Mount Faber and finally found the Jewel Box....however, we didn't go in as there seems to be parking problems and the road was blocked by the tourist coaches.
On the way home, we stopped by West Coast Park's MacDonald's for drinks....and I had my first Mac's OJ for the weekend...
The sun has been working OT this few weeks and all of us feel so burnt...it seems that my brains were also fried...that I was willing to attempt the outdoors this weekend...
SL suggested going to Sentosa this Saturday...being the lazy girl that I am, I suggested going East Coast Park instead since I definitely do not look forward to taking bus to Harbourfront and then changing to the Sentosa Express which is something like the LRT at Bukit Panjang (have not taken the LRT at Punggol, so can't comment).
As we were just looking forward to some R&R, we were not too keen to exert ourselves going rollerblading or cycling...however, this gave me nothing much to look forward to....when the idea of trying the cable ski popped into my head...
Against my better judgement, I suggested going in the late afternoon, around 2+...cos I know for certain that I will be a total grouch if I wake up too early on sat and that going around 12-1 is no joke due to the mid-day sun....while walking along ECP, there was no wind...juz warm air....and questions like "Why am I here?!?!" popped into my head....
Luckily after walking awhile, the weather cooled and it seemed like rain was imminent...we stopped to rest on one of the stony structures along the beach....maybe due to the rain / dark clouds in the distance, there was a cooling breeze and we sat there chatting and I tried to read a book...it was beginning to be an enjoyable afternoon afterall.....
Finally we decided to walk towards the cable-ski park...as SL was not interested in trying out the cable-ski....I was left undecided whether to take a go at it....i was there sitting around the area trying to make up my mind...an hour passed before I decided to take the plunge (pun intended :P)
Alas, when the cable started pulling me, I just could not stand....I'm not sure whether it is due to the fact that the pull of the cable is different from the pull of the boat or that I have not done wakeboarding for a long long time that I could not stand at all...after trying for almost an hour, I decided to call it a day....exhausted and muscle-aching....
Maybe I will give it another try when I find some friends who are willing to try it out with me....or maybe i will go back to the more expensive wakeboarding..... :P
This morning, as we had some time to spare.....A and I decided to take a quick spin to West Coast Park...it was scorching hot!!!! The orange juice from macDonald's was not enough to cool me...but it was quite enjoyable (except for the heat) to talk and walk at West Coast Park...dodging from one shade to another....this is a "coast park" with no coastal scenery...and we had to walk to the nearby yacht club to satisfy ourselves of some sea scenery....it was a relief to return to the air con comfort of the car....
So it seems....that I spent the first weekend of the Great Singapore Sale at parks instead of the shopping malls....
I have a reputation of having short-lived interest...I would like something now and before u know it, I would have lost my interest in it.
However, as I grow older, I tried to be more stable, and not flit from one thing to another...
Alas, seems like old habits die hard. Last December, I started learning Japanese...I wanted to learn Japanese so that I can understand the Japanese magazines and products that I have bought or intend to buy...However, my interest could not be maintained...after scaping through my Elementary 1 course, I decided to take up Elementary 2. However, due to the change of my office location , I found myself dreading to go to classes as I would have to book a cab to take me to class if I want to attend the class on time, this would be throwing good $ after bad cos I haven't been doing my homework nor revising before each lesson....so effectively, I'm not learning much during class...
Every Friday, I would feel very guilty for not attending classes and wasting my $, but I still think it is a wiser choice than spending more $ to attend class if I can't make myself do my homework...
I think the course should be over now, so it is no use thinking about it anymore...and Iife continues on...

In the movie Priceless (Hors de prix) , Irene (Audrey Tautou) tells the male lead Jean (Gad Elmaleh) that whether he is good looking or not is not important. But charm is essential.
Quite true, cos although the male lead is not particularly good-looking, he sorta endears himself to me at the end of the movie.
A hilarious scene of the movie was when Irene told Jean that he is not getting enough gifts from his female companion and then she broke his watch (cos the alarm kept on going off). The next scene shows that his female companion buying him a watch that costs 30,000 Euros with diamonds on the bezel and then he went on to show it off to Irene. And when she asked for the time. Instead of saying like past 9 o'clock. He said that it was 9 diamonds past.

This has been an exciting week for me because i watched 2 movies this week, Priceless & Spiderman 3 (you can see how "exciting" my life usually is).
Actually I am not a great fan of such action-hero movies...I didn't watch Spiderman 1, Fantastic 4 etc. But I can't remember why I went to watch Spiderman 2, but I remember that I enjoyed the movie. So when KX asked me to watch Spiderman 3, I didn't really object.
We watched @ Vivocity 10.30pm and was quite shocked when we came out of the theatre that it was 1+am!!! Didn't know that the movie was that long.
Anyway, as the movie has been screening for quite some time, we decided that there was no need to book in advance and horror of horrors! The best tickets we could get at around 8pm was the 2nd row seats. Well, I would say that it would be a long time before I would agree to watch such action movies so near to the screen. I was trying my hardest to tilt my head in such a way so as to be able to see the full screen, but to no avail. I was quite giddy and suffering from neck-ache after awhile.
Note to self: Never buy tickets in the front few rows at Theatre 10 of Vivocity.
Anyway in this instalment of Spiderman, the darker side of Spiderman was revealed. And it was when Spiderman was wearing this special black suit that his worst attributes are magnified. I don't know whether I am imagining things but somehow when Spiderman had this black suit on (underneath his normal clothes), he seems to have a double chin, his face looks rounder and he has this evil glint in his eyes!
In this instalment, MJ went from Peter Parker back to Harry and then back to Peter again! Can she make up her mind who she likes?!?!
The only redeeming part was that Harry finally came to his senses and helped Spiderman in his fight against the bad guys.
I also liked the little bit of jazz singing by MJ.
Those who have been reading my blog would know that I have an entry titled "absent-minded", and I have told myself to remember to bring my stuff home. However, today, I still left my mobile in the office!!!!!
Luckily, I was meeting the only friend who's mobile number I remember!!!!! Therefore, I could still contact her to make arrangements.
Anyway, we went to Lido to watch Priceless. Beside the popcorn counter, there was a table with bags of popcorn already packed, which I think were for people with complimentary refreshment coupons. While queueing TO BUY popcorn, I was juz lamenting to YP that it was sad that we do not have the coupons to redeem the free popcorn when from behind us came this guy who pushed one of his packet of popcorn + drink into our hands, saying that it was more than he could finish!!!! It happened so fast and truth be told, I won't be able to recognise this guy if I meet him again.
It made our day with this special kindness from this total stranger but YP was surprised that he chose to offer to us out of the others in the queue. And "blamed" me for lamenting too loudly about our lack of complimentary coupons....(Truth is: I really didn't comment loudly)
Anyway, I feel that both the guy and us were lucky that day, because I have the experience of being rejected by a lady when I offered her our extra drinks. (It seems like there are always such complimentary coupons for refreshments around). And the experience of being rejected was quite strange cause i actually felt embarassed for being rejected (although I believe I was juz doing a good deed).
Heard recently that a male fren had been written off for being "improper" during one of the group drinking sessions... ... As I was not there, I don't really know how "improper" he was...or how drunk he was...
It set me thinking whether all males are hum sump uncles.....so once stripped of their self-consciousness / defence, the real them emerges? I know some people sleep when they are drunk, some can't stop talking, others dance ...
I believe that all of us lose some of our inhibitions after having some liquor inside us but how do we draw the line when we go drinking with our male frens? Or how do our male frens know how far they can go?
I've had the experience of feeling uncomfortable when dancing with frens after a few drinks... so I know how it feels...however, at that time...it was easier for me cos that guy stopped his actions after I frowned at him...I didn't really mention this to any of the other frens and up to now, I can still look the guy in the eye...and I believe that he now knows my limit and has been behaving himself (at least in front of me) in the other occasions when he drinks. So I believe that this guy is still a decent guy...
But on the issue of the fren who was written off...does it matter whether he was making use of his supposedly drunkness or really drunk?
Does his actions during his drunkenness show the true him?
I really don't know...so my conclusion to this episode is
1. We should not try to make our frens drink so much that they become drunk
2. We should not let ourselves get drunk (even when we are with trusty frens)
Friday was the 2nd time I left my wallet in the office....I usually put it in my lunch bag when I go for lunch....but since I joined this new place, I have already forgotten to put my wallet back into my bag after lunch twice!!!!!
Luckily this time, I discovered it while I was still in the vicinity, and so went back to collect it...else I would be cashless / cardless for the weekend!
I dont know what's wrong with me in this new company....in my previous company, I only always forget to bring my mobile back! :P But now...I've also managed to forget to bring my wallet too!!!!!
Is it old age that is making me absent-minded? haha i don't think so lah...I'm juz a blur-queen at heart....altho I try so hard not to be! I would always check when I alight from taxi etc to make sure that I do not leave anything behind....but I've already managed to lose my wallet twice already...really lost as in misplaced and not merely forget to bring home......
ok probably my resolution this year would be to be more present-minded! If there is such a word! :P

I believe this picture was taken in 2006 when we were in Pulau Redang.....I like to relax at beach resorts but sometimes the distance to this places takes many many hours...... it takes 10 hrs coach ride to reach this place and then we have to transfer to a short boat ride.
It is always fun to hang out with my dearest friends from my university days.....and I only have fond memories of all our trips....
I have time now to blog because my office notebook died on me...it showed me the blue screen of death....and refused to boot up.
My colleagues teased me for overworking my poor notebook....so tomorrow I will try to seek an audience with the helpdesk guys....to see whether it is due to overwork that my notebook died.
Today I had lunch with the 2 colleagues who were mentioned in my blog earlier on....it seems that I can be myself more when I am with them since they are from other depts....and it is quite fun when we start to share how fun our ex-colleagues were....and we also agreed to start an afternoon tea-break culture in the company!
While taking the transport on the way home, I started chatting with this colleague who takes the same transport. He has joined the company for around 6 months....we chatted for the whole journey home....and since we stay near to each other, we decided to walk home together.....I think it is quite cham if u start your working career in a company where according to him, "the people are very cliquish and not very friendly". For me, it is at least easier cos i already have experience elsewhere and know what to expect ...
Well, we shall see...whether I can really be part of them....
Anyway...I've bought a computer haversack...and now my notebook died on me....not sure what kind of notebook i will get next! Keep fingers crossed!
This is the 3rd week in my new job...and I already feel that there r many things to do and with deadlines too! Well, think there is a price to pay for such a challenging job! I even try to spend some of my free time reading up on work related topics...this is the motivation that I couldn't find in my old job!
On my first day of work, I found out that there was an IS guy who was also starting work in the company the same day as me. It is quite comforting cos he reminds me of an excolleague, whom we called "Auntie Kim"...who has been very nice to me.
Thru this IS guy and the orientation program, I had a chance to meet the other relatively new entrants to the company...I m not sure whether the problem is with me...but I find that I enjoy myself more when I am with these new entrants compared to the "older" colleagues in my dept....
I hope that thru time, I will be able to assimilate into my dept, cos right now...they still talk amongst themselves....
Anyway, as I was having lunch with the 2 IS guys from my orientation program, I realised that all of us have the same "experience"...
1. We were all not totally keen to join the company, but since the co selected us...we decided to give it a try.
2. We feel that we are very different compared to our colleagues here...(ok, them at least) cos they said that their dept is totally quiet....seems like their colleagues do not talk.
3. We used to come from friendly and fun environments.
Anyway...I will try and fit in!
Meanwhile, I shall continue to blog on the things I don't like about this new place. :P
1. The toilet sucks....the toilet bowl is rectangular but the toilet seat is oval. So, if u sit on the seat like normal, u will touch the edges of the toilet bowl sticking out from under the oval seat. Double yucks!
2. The water pressure from the cistern is so strong that the water will spray out when u flush. Triple yucks!
I read a friend's blog and found that she likes to take photos of clouds....so I hitched on her idea and decided to showcase some photos taken by me...
1st picture taken at Sentosa, Singapore on 28 May 2005, 2nd picture taken in Nikko, Japan in Sept 2006, 3rd picture was taken after our wakeboarding session in Punggol, Singapore on 7 May 2005
My new company issued me a notebook so that I can use it when I travel....however, although the boss requested for a light notebook...the model "light XXX" is actually a notebook that weighs more than 2kg. With the additional weight of the bag, plus the power source...the transportation of the notebook really caused me much anxiety and discomfort...the ache is what I think is termed as tennis elbow....
After a number of days of going home almost on the dot (to catch the company transport) and not bringing the notebook home to do work at home....my boss finally decided to arrange for a change of notebook for me to another lighter-weight model. Yippee!
However, if I need to bring the notebook around when i travel, I decided to get a notebook haversack.....so began my search for a small, padded notebook haversack that is also ok to my wallet. Here is a list of bags that I've seen so far in my 2 days of search:
1. Muji - $59
2. Samsonite - $88
3. Antler - $145
4. Arnold Palmer - $39
5. Hedgren - $147
6. "Turtle brand" - $145
Before my search, I asked around to get a feel of the price of the notebook bags and I realised that most paid around $90- $120 for their haversacks....
So I was not surprised to find that the haversacks..esp those that are both padded but still light-weight abit on the expensive side.....my personal fav is no. 5...except that the price is not ok...I will most prob get no. 2 as it is a balance between comfort and price....
Watch this space for more details...
Today, while having lunch at a local sushi train chain, my fren and I were sitted at the counter , i.e. juz in front of the sushi train....
As we haven't met up for some time, there were alot of things to update each other and we were happily chatting when all of a sudden, we were rudely interrupted by this AUNTIE. She stretched out her hand to pick out a plate of sushi on the conveyor belt between my fren and I, interrupting my fren mid-sentence.
It really amazes me how rude or inconsiderate some people can be.... Granted that she didn't cause us harm or much discomfort, but we still felt that this incident made a tiny dent in our little "reunion".
It really baffles us Y she didn't juz take a few more steps to choose her sushi from the conveyor belt beside us as the seats were all unoccupied...
I wasn't really interested to watch this show as I don't really fancy Hugh Grant, neither do I fancy Drew Barrymore. However, a friend told me that the songs inside were quite nice...so when i saw that this was a movie that was available as inflight entertainment, I decided to watch it.
Well, the songs sang were really quite nice.... and catchy....
Anyway remembered about the movie cos someone was playing this song while we were playing tennis today.
My friend said she watched it twice within a week as she thot it was really good!
I think I am getting crazy with all the bumper to bumper traffic that I have to face whilst travelling to/from work. Granted that I am not the driver....so I can take a short nap during the journey...but....
I've almost always taken the MRT to work...and this is the first time that I have to travel so far by road to work....I dont' know whether I would go crazy with all the traffic jams....but it's really getting on my nerves and making me dread going to work
Anyway, I hope the weather clears next week and the traffic would be smooth.....keep fingers crossed
